In 1945, Raymond and Boyce Greene faced a long lead time to have a well drilled. Knowing that other people in the area were facing the same challenge, they founded Greene Brothers Well Drilling Co. in Canton, NC.

As the business expanded, Boyce’s sons, BT and WT, stepped in to continue the Greene Brothers name, marking the start of its second generation.

In 1970, BT, his wife Audrey, and their daughters Kim and Heather, moved from Canton to Sylva to establish a new branch of the company. This new endeavor took on a bootstraps approach- from inquiring at every jobsite in the area if a well was needed, to drilling throughout the night, to drilling 45° wells for the Park at Clingman’s Dome.

As the next generation of Greene’s joined the company in the early 1990’s, BT and WT made the decided to divide the business, forming AAA Greene Bros Well Drilling of Sylva and Greene Brothers Well and Pump of Canton.

Today, AAA Greene Brothers is operated by the third and fourth generations, who continue to hold fast to the founder’s motto: “we won’t be the cheapest, but we will be the best”.
